Madrid: Retiro Park & Prado Museum

After a good night’s sleep, we were ready to explore more of Madrid. The breakfast was included in our hotel and had a lot of varieties including scrambled eggs, bread, croissant, cold-cut meat, sliced cheese, fruits, juices, milk, cereals, and coffee. Today we had plans to visit Retiro Park and Prado Museum.

We entered the El Retiro park from the south side. There was a beautiful Rose Garden, there were so many varieties of roses, different colors, and beautiful designs.

Crystal Palace. It’s an old iron and glass structure that you can walk into for free. There were beautiful ducks, geese, swans, and turtles in the lake next to it.

We walked towards Retiro lake. It was a beautiful lake, very relaxing, there were boats which you can rent. On one side of the lake, they have a beautiful monument area with beautiful sculptures.

People were boating there. It was so relaxing to just sit and watch and enjoy the view.

Puerta de Alcala Nice monument from Roman times in the center of the city. There was a very busy road, a lot of traffic driving around it. We have to be careful while crossing the road and took pictures.

We walked to the Prado Museum. The museum cost €15 but has free entry during the last 2 hours of opening. There were no pictures allowed inside. Once you enter, you need to go through scan machines and checked your bags. There were 3 floors and paintings from Goya, Bosco, and other artists. We were done in an hour, but if you are art lover, you might spend 2-3 hours here.

Beautiful church situated on a hill behind the museum of El Prado.

Reina Sofia museum Another popular museum in Madrid. We didn’t go inside this one. The entry cost €12 but has free entry during the last 2 hours of opening. Here the official kink to get more info or buy tickets. https://www.museoreinasofia.es/

Today was our last day in Madrid. We’ll take the high-speed train from Atocha station to Granada tomorrow.
