Cloud forests receive high levels of precipitation, often forming fog; low-hanging clouds hover around the forest’s upper canopy before condensing onto the leaves of trees and dripping onto the plants below. Cloud forests often exhibit an abundance of mosses covering the ground and vegetation. Monteverde Cloud Forest is one of the most inspiring places to visit in the world.
We visited Selvatura Park, a nature and adventure located in Monteverde as a guided tour through Gate1Travel. It offers Ziplining, hanging bridges, and many more activities.
We did the hanging bridges, and it was a 2-mile easy walk through the cloud forest on a sturdy, concrete trail with beautiful bridges and gorgeous, lush, green flora.
Some bridges are low, some are high, some are long, and some are short, but they’re all wonderful and have amazing views!!
We visited in the morning, and it was raining and cloudy, but the views were beautiful!
The paths were well maintained and the jungle is so full of plants upon plants; vines climbing trees, tree ferns, and so much more.
You are suspended hundreds of feet above the ground in some places with a great view to spot wildlife in the park, but we were not lucky enough to see it.
We were expecting to see more birds, sloths etc but I think it wouldn’t disappoint you – besides the animals usually keen to stay away from people. We managed to have some great shots of a very beautiful flowers though.
There are constantly lush green mosses and ferns growing on old trees, as well as hanging bridges spanning the cloud forest’s canopy.
The vegetation is remarkable, with plants growing on trees, and the forest is impressive.
The walk isn’t too difficult with some inclines and steps but should be doable for most people.
The hanging bridges are incredible, even being afraid of heights, it wasn’t too daunting of a task and was enjoyable despite the heights but if you like being in the treetops, you’ll absolutely enjoy everything this park has to offer.
We enjoyed the walk and it allowed us to take our time and take lots of pictures. The entire place is very beautiful and is in a dense cloud forest.
They have 8 great hanging bridges that vary in length and had such great views above the trees and you can walk at your own pace.
We did the self-guided hike, and it was easy to follow the path along the hike and to each bridge; an excellent experience, and a must-do in Monteverde. It also had a restaurant on site if you wanted to grab lunch before or after your tour.
We recommend bringing binoculars for watching birds etc., wear sturdy shoes and rain gear like a rain jacket or a poncho.
In addition to Canopy and suspension bridges, it also had a butterfly garden, reptile exhibition, and sloth sanctuary.
