We arrived in Vienna from Salzburg last night around 9:00 pm. Our free walking tour of Vienna was at 10 am. We purchased the 48-hour ticket for metros and trams in Vienna. We took the tram D in front of the Vienna hbf and got off at the opera house stop.

Our meeting point for the tour was the opera house. Our guide was waiting for 2-3 more people to join the group. We started at burggarten, and here was the beautiful Mozart statue monument. He was born in Salzburg and moved to Vienna later.
Heldenplatz. Huge square surrounded by iconic buildings and venues for events. Home to two famous statues and a military monument. On the balcony of the Hapsburg palace where Hitler addressed a vast crowd.

The column of Trinity, also called the plague column, is one of the well-known sculptural pieces erected after the great plague epidemic.
The walking tour ended at the famous Stephansplatz. Our guide was knowledgeable and enjoyed talking about the city. He provided historical highlights and showed us some sights we may not have come upon ourselves.
St. Stephen’s Cathedral It is free to enter, but an additional fee to climb the tower.
The details inside the church were unique and something worth experiencing.
We walked to the city hall from the Stephansplatz, enjoying our views on the way.
The Christmas market on Rathausplatz, The most famous Christmas market in front of the City Hall, is an unforgettable highlight for those eager to get into the spirit of the season.
There were all sorts of stalls selling Christmas ornaments, soaps, candles, and of course, all the food stalls with mulled wine, chocolates, pretzels, and bratwurst. We sampled various food from the Christmas market.
We returned to our hotel to take a break and returned in the evening to enjoy the holiday lights.
Christmas Market on Stephansplatz. It was most gorgeous at night during winter and the holiday with all the Christmas decorations and lighting.

The city was beautiful during Christmas time. We took tram D to get to Belvedere Palace.
Christmas Village Belvedere Palace This famous Christmas market is set against the glorious baroque backdrop of the world-famous residence Belvedere Palace. It was lit up beautifully at night.
After dinner, we returned to our hotel and rested after all our walking during the day.
