Day 1 We arrived at San Jose international airport at night and transferred to our hotel. Depending on when you arrive in San Jose, you can click here to see the things to do in San Jose.
Day 2 In the morning, we departed for Arenal. On the way, we stopped at the town of Sarchi which is known for its oxcarts.
On the way, the roads were narrow and winding. There was an accident, and a truck blocked half of the road. We were glad we didn’t have to drive on those narrow and winding roads.
We also stopped at a local Mercado for lunch and ate our first local dish casado.

After resting for an hour or so, we went for dinner at Inspira Restaurant, which was included in our itinerary. Dinner included drinks, appetizers, Main Entrée, and dessert.
Day 3 Today, we had the flexibility to take an optional tour of the Cano Negro boat tour. Click here to see the details of the trip and our experience of the tour.

The hotel also offers some tours, including ATV, horse riding, ziplining, and more if you want to do something on your own or can relax in your room or at the pool. The hotel had lovely grounds.
Day 4 Today morning, we left for the Arenal Volcano. Click here to see the details of the trip and our experience of the tour.
After visiting Arenal Volcano, we continued towards Monteverde. On the way, we had lunch at Mary’s restaurant in Tilaran. It was very neat and clean and high quality food.
In the evening, there was an optional Brewery Tour to discover the hidden world of Monteverde’s craft beer, followed by dinner in the brewpub. Once we reached Monteverde Brewing company, the owner explained the step-by-step process from beginning to end. We sampled all their beers and once we were done with the tour, our dinner was ready.
Day 5 This morning, we had a choice for an optional tour of Selvatura Canopy Tour, Selvatura Hanging Bridges, or both. We did the Hanging bridges, and you can click here to see the trip’s details and our tour experience.
In the evening, we visited a traditional Costa Rican coffee farm and learned about Costa Rica Coffee. Click here to see the details of our experience.
In the evening we enjoyed Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6 Today, we travelled back to San Jose. Once we arrived in our hotel we rested for some time and in the afternoon, we took an optional city tour of San Jose including Gold Museum. Click here to see the details of our experience.
Day 7 Fly back home based on what time your flight is.
